The history of trains in Asia is a diverse one, with many different countries and regions having their own unique developments and experiences with rail transportation.

In China, the first railway was built in 1876, and the country has since developed an extensive railway network. The Chinese government has invested heavily in high-speed rail, with the first high-speed line opening in 2007. Today, China has the longest high-speed rail network in the world, connecting major cities across the country.
